United Nations population estimates and projections are a starting point for comparisons between countries. For national and local questions, also consult the national statistical office.
Before comparing observations
Keep estimates and projections separate. Record the revision, reference date, age group and sex. A census count and a mid-year population estimate need not be the same measure.
Use the publisher's documented download or API options. Preserve the dataset identifier, selected dimensions, access date and source licence with an extract.
